Privacy Policy

Does It Pay? is designed from the ground up to protect your privacy. All calculation math runs entirely on your device.

Local In-Browser Execution

When you enter loan balances, home prices, utility bills, or income numbers into Does It Pay?, that data stays inside your browser memory. We have no backend database collecting your financial profile.

Zero Tracking and No Accounts

We do not use third-party analytics scripts, marketing trackers, or tracking pixels. We do not require registration, login, email addresses, or phone numbers.

Local Storage and Shared Links

If you choose to save comparison scenarios locally, they are stored strictly within your browser's private localStorage and capped at five scenarios. When you click "Share link", your parameters are encoded exclusively in the URL hash fragment (#v=...), which is never sent to our servers in HTTP requests.

Stateless Address Lookups

When using the solar calculator location search, address queries are routed through a stateless proxy directly to the US Census Bureau and NREL. Your street address is never logged, stored, or linked to your identity.

In-Memory Rate Limiting

To protect upstream public APIs from abuse, proxy requests are rate-limited using in-memory IP buckets (anonymizing IPv6 to /64). These counters are transient, never written to disk or long-term logs, and never associated with personal identities.
